Good question. It is obvious that the war (sorry, "special military operation") didn't go nearly as expected. They've committed 85% of their military personnel, have suffered great losses and their economy is in tatters. Their reputation is mud and will take decades to rebuild - if ever.Didn't read many of these but we keep seeing the theme of Russia's failing attempt. Is this optimism or reality? When will they pull pack and declare their operation over and therefore victory?
This campaign will go down in history as one of the greatest miscalculations.
Early on in this thread I posted Dan Hoffman's comments that Russia's goal was to flatten Ukraine - that goal they are accomplishing but there is no way that they can gracefully disengage - maybe to the Russian people, but not to the rest of the world.
It may be interesting to see what the Russian population will say a couple years down the road when they get more information.
How the west continues to support Ukraine will, in part, determine what happens with Taiwan.
