What did you do to your MK6 today?

If those are dealership prices I’m not surprised at the cost they’re quoting for the control arm brackets, especially if that includes the alignment. I think it’s high because I‘ve done mine and know what’s involved.
So they heard back from the extended warranty pretty quick too which I wasn’t expecting, it took almost a month to get work approved last time it was in the shop...

Lower control arm brackets were covered, alignment was separate and was covered, sway bar links are covered. I know the brakes are a wear item and obviously wouldn’t be covered but they’re saying the lower heater core hose won’t be covered either..? Apparently it’s a “maintenance item” but want $360.66 for it

Edit: yes these are dealership prices

Also I’m pretty sure the extended warranty people absolutely hate me because after this repair, I will have equaled the cars value in repairs in only 2 years of ownership ($10k). Thank god I got it...I swear this car just finds something to break whenever it’s finally fixed again

Not bad considering the other stuff they’re paying for imo. The amount they spend fixing your car is the game they play. A lot of policies out there not getting used. You should see some Mercedes repair bills haha

I believe it, my step mothers 2019 C300 has been crazy! $$$$$$

Overall I’m obviously satisfied with what they’re covering, but my final questions to everyone are:
1. Is it reasonable to fork over $360 for the bottom heater core hose pipe + labor?
2. How hard is it to do this myself? I can clearly see the hoses and it looks like I’d just need to take off the intake to access but I can’t even find a part number for it anywhere online and they don’t have it listed on the invoice

Edit: disregard the above, had them go ahead and do everything but the brakes.

We had a customer with a E550 coupe and an SL550. Between the two of them he had used like 100k on his wheel and tire warranty. Sometimes one would be in the shop for two tires/wheel repair and he’d have a blowout in the other car. We quit selling him alignments, and his car was in the body shop often. Not sure why they continued to pay, or why he was even driving still.

the shop i used to go to (a VW/Audi specialist) has this guy with a volvo who would try to come in every few months to get an alignment. the frame in the rear was fucked so an alignment wasn't really gonna fix his issue but he kept coming in anyways. after they told him no, he would linger for 20-30 in the waiting room and then ask again, as if they would just magically be able to do it.

Reminds me of a G wagon guy, had staggered 24's(necessary to clear the front brakes) and Falken tires or something. Constantly complained about his "alignment" and interior rattles.

This weekend I used your heel-toe tip to teach an R8 owner how to do it. Turns out the brake/throttle setup and relative distance to each other in the R8 is almost exactly like the Mk6 GTI. The R8 clutch pedal is just a bit closer to the brake pedal, by about a centimeter, maybe.
The guy was trying to heel-toe exactly how I used to in my Celica (he's used to Japanese cars as well). I knew how to relate.
