Coil packs and spark plugs

I would just monitor for KR in the days before an oil change. If youre running 91/93 on an equivalent tune, your KR shouldn’t be more than -3, -4 at the worst. If it’s consistently pulling, or has worse spikes than -3/-4, I would change plugs then monitor again.

If you are pulling negative 4s, you need to have your tune dialed back. Way too much spark / timing being added if this is the case. Or you need better gas.

Are you saying run OEM plugs, but change very 10k on a tuned Golf R?
I would use stock heat range plugs unless you track your car regardless of what the tuner says. With street driving you will never generate the heat to need a colder plug. I'm FBO hybrid turbo and change my plugs every 15K and they could easily last longer.

So VW finally sorted out the coil packs? I had a B5.5 Passat 1.8T, and coils were cheap enough ($20 ea) to replace every 60k. I never had a coil pack failure, but there was a recall on them at the time.
