Looks like the R will be the best looking version this time around.
GTI was for the 7. R was for the 6.
330hp stock nice. Clubsport spoiler!
I dunno, the GTi looks pretty good here if you ask me! This pic was taken on the VW test track, even though the GTI seen here is being referred to as a prototype it looks like it could be the full production version, in that it looks more finished than other pictures I’ve seen, I’m not one for red cars and I’ve had my doubts about the mk8 in general, but I like this, gloss black Pretoria’s too!

Looks like they are trying hard to match the Veloster N.
The grill and headlights do not do it for me. Rear looks OK but tail lights look small. Interior nice to see some features but all the gloss black. Dust will love it and every finger print. Seats, love mine for fit but nice to see some a sport look enter the GTI. CLUBSPORT S seats are better however.

The GTI has been the classy hot hatch. The black dress or classic tuxedo, always looking good but not flashy. But younger people want different things. Look at the Honda Civic.

Genuinely thank you for the linked article, Carlos.

My first thought is: If this is the GTI we're going to get, it holds GREAT promise for the R.

Haven't we seen the R testing with two piston floating front calipers? These look like single pistons (without the beauty plate.) Now I wonder if there will be a Performance Pack on the Mk8.

no way will a stock VW ever come with floating calipers lol. i agree a few posts up... hate to say its kind of growing on me; atleast the massive front grille/lower front fascia. overall body shape is nice

Methinks you mean fixed. All of them come with floating.

Like you guys the MK8 is starting to grow on me. I'm still not sure about the interior, especially the glass dash & teeny weeny DSG shifter. Holy cow.....

Touch screen controls are still a major deal breaker for me and I hate that a lot of the industry is pivoting this way.
There's no tactile indication that your fingers are where they need to be! This isn't an "afraid of change" issue, this is a road safety issue.
