About Golf 8.5 R-Line Touch Steering Wheel Buttons

Hi All,

I have 2024 Golf 8.5 R-Line. I want to replace the steering wheel buttons with piano black touch sensitive ones. I think, I need buttons with MODE and CNCL on the left and steering wheel heating on the right. Of course I will also need a gray steering wheel trim piece.

What are the part numbers of the products I need? Do you think any coding is required after installing the keys? Or will it be plug and play?

Note: Travel Assist, ACC, Limiter and Lane Assist is active.

My Mk8 GTE had haptic (black piano) buttons on the steering wheel. They looked good but a bit over sensitive and it was very easy to press the wrong button with the slightest touch. After a while I did get fairly used to them. My Mk8.5 GTE came with the old style traditional physical buttons. MUCH MUCH better.

Additionally the haptic buttoned steering wheels caused software issues and a great many were replaced under warranty including mine.

I assure you that you don’t want to change your steering wheel.

In your latest photo it looks like physical buttons but instead of traditional black plastic they are shiny piano black physical buttons. No idea what market VW sells their cars with those.

The gloss black physical buttons, only seem to have been present on the pre production launch vehicles of the 8.5, probably not available.
