Gas Buddy, MP3 Music Download, Police Scanner, Smartbench, Tune Me, and Words w/ Friends are all wonderful.

Most useful app by far is PDAnet though.

My favorite is Pandora. Only app so far that I am considering purchasing. XM gave me free satellite radio for 2 weeks. After about 10 minutes of hunting for something decent to listen to, I turned it off and went back to Pandora.
I would love to see an app that turns off all the crap you are not using and keep them off. Just about every time I pick up my phone and check, all this shit is running and I have to kill them all again. Stuff I have never used keeps popping back up. Thinking about writing down all the zombies apps and surgically removing the ones I don’t use from my phone.

-Pandora is great. I have Tune in Radio Pro, and it's good, but it constantly streams, so it uses more bandwidth, and for some reason, it just pauses music playback.

-Fancy Widgets Pro is a great clock/weather widget. A very simple but classy look, and has all kinds of skins. I do like weatherbug, because it puts the temp in the notification bar as well.

-Skype with video - great if you have htc lte, very sharp and clear video.

-Elixir - a great set of widgets and you can pick and choose which widgets you want in the set. i particularly like the screen off widget, since i don't have to press the power button to turn off the screen.

-setcpu - can set max and min cpu speeds as well as governor. requires root.

k9 - very fast mail app, way faster than my stock mail HTC app. allows gestures

-dolphin browser - not quite the fastest for me, but the most stable, and allows gestures as well.

-ASTRO - great file browser and can back up apps (but not data)

-Titanium Backup - back up apps+data. requires root.

-Battery monitor widget - monitors and logs your power consumption. useful to see if something in your phone is draining power.

-Data counter widget - see data stats by day, week, month. particularly useful for people on plans with limits.

Juice Defender - allows you to shut off data while the screen is off. Useful if you are in a weak signal area and searching for mobile data, or if you have apps using data when it shouldn't be. If your system doesn't have problems, and you are not in a weak signal area, then this app won't help much.

Yahoo messenger - I use it mostly just for free international texts

Google voice - i use this for domestic texts, saves me from buying a text plan.

multicon - allows you to squeeze icons into a smaller space, i use the 2x2, meaning 4 icons in the space of 1 regular icon.

Pulse - great news reader with a great widget as well.

Swiftkey - very very good text prediction. good keyboard.

flex t9 - best keyboard layout, easy to use, but kinda lousy text prediction.

volume locker - locks volume from accidental presses.

wireless tether - free wifi tether, no limits (most free tether apps do not allow secure websites). requires root

What i didn't like:
-xscope browser - constantly crashed
maildroid - slow

I dunno which one i have, however, ive rooted my phone, underclocked it, and gotten a higher mAh battery to combat things like that. My Droid 2 lasts forever! And in case it doesnt, i always keep a spare battery in my wallet.

-Advanced Task Cleaner.
quite useful to kill all open apps that stay on the background draining battery.

-Chainfire 3D.
If you phone has a 1+ GHz processor, this allows you to play games designed for Tegra 2 devices.

-Easy Chan

-File Expert
I have tried 8 file browsers and this one is the best so far.

-Router Keygen
For those of us that don't have a data plan, allows you to crack some of the available WiFi connections.

-Sleep Up (5X)
Binaural waves to induce deep sleep. I use it quite often when I can't sleep.

-SlideIT Keyboard.
Kind of hard to get used to it, but after a couple days it feels so right, allows you to write with one finger and faster than using the normal on-screen keyboard.

-WhatsApp
Great for texting using WiFi or 3G, and is cross plataform.

Parcels - I would definitely recommend this if you buy a lot of stuff online. It lets you track a TON of different shipping companies.

Tapatalk

Soundhound - i think its much better than shazam.

Alarm clock plus - the only alarm app that actually wakes me up!

zedge - awesome for getting message tones, wall paper, ringtones

ringdroid - lets you cut any music you have saved and turn it into ringtones/alarm tones/notification tones

K9 Mail - probably the best email client I have used for android. Lets you have multiple accounts and its much better than the one that comes on the phone imo.

Gas Buddy

HBO Go - works only if you have a subscription to HBO

Advanced task killer

I wish there was a netflix app for my phone :frown: I know some phones have it, but as far as I know, there isn't one yet for the G2x.
