You can use a free exif file reader like Opanda to see the image's details including camera, exposure, camera settings and so on. For instance, the small image in your sig "Sig-4.jpg" shows it was taken with a Nikon D50. Exposure was f/8 @ 1/60th.

also, opera can read exif straight from the browser, which i find very useful. just right-click and view image properties.

For a manufacturer, my personal fav are Nikon lenses, Canon makes great ones too.

There are also two Firefox add-ons, Exif Viewer and FxIF, which do about the same.

Just find a lens you like using and work with it.

D90, with 18-55mm 5.6, 28mm 2.8, 70-200 5.6 and RIP: 24-70 2.8(my nikon strap came off camera and cracked the hood and lense). Didn't buy warranty(stupid stupid stupid) because I had just spent 1600 on the lens. Thought I wouldn't need it.
