Thank you! I think the 4th post has this info. I am slowly making progress on the discussions lol.

few more questions:
1. Is the rebuild kit necessary if I am not going to track the car? I am under the impression that the calipers will be shipped standard boots and seals, correct me if I am wrong.
2. Could we use the heat shield from base Macan is it a bolt-on? If No are there other bolt-on heat shields options available?
3. Keeping cost aside given a choice between the air duct and heat shield which one do you prefer? and why?
1. Don't need to do anything but use Castrol Red Rubber grease on the pistons, unless you're tracking.

2. You can use the heat shield you currently have on your car, just take a hammer and flatten the outer edges.

3. You can use both heat shield and RS3 ducts, though the ducts are likely more effective without a full heat shield. As a compromise, you can cut the heat shield down just to cover the abs sensors.

If you want to paint em, VHT holds up pretty well if you cure it properly. Got to bake it in an oven at 200F for 1 hour, once you're done with your coats. I've done this method on other cars and its lasted several years before signs of fading.

edit - Most people who complain about spray paint for calipers don't properly cure them

I believe this mod only works on cars with an aluminum steering knuckle on the newer 8v A3 and Mk7s.

Pretty sure the A3 8P has steel knuckles you would be better off looking into a 17z or 18z kit

The steel and aluminum MK7 knuckles are the same for the brake setup. There are a few in this thread who have installed Macan calipers on the 50mm steel knuckles. I don't know how the A3 is different though.

Probably you're right, cause this is my steering knuckle and have this " exceeding " metal part that doesn't let me fit the new calipers. So, maybe with the S3 8p aluminium steering knuckle will be ok? I really hope so.
Thanks for your answer

There's also 2 versions of these calipers, designed for different rotor diameters. It looks like yours are designed for the small diameter rotors.

The Mk7 / 1.8 A3 with a steel knuckle use a different design than the 8P A3 steel knuckles

5Q0407255R vs 1K0407255AA

The newer 5Q doesn't seem to have as big of a tab there.

No idea if the S3 8P work

Edit - Even if the S3 knuckles did work it would still be cheaper and easier to just return/sell those calipers and get a 17z 18z kit from rotor lab as they are confirmed to fit

So...this part number 5Q0407255R can fit that calipers I posted?

Thanks for your answer :)

According to people the brakes fit on mk7s with steel knuckles, but no clue if the mk7 knuckles bolt up at an a3

Theese one for S3 8P seems more suitable for A3 8P

Any consensus on the best place to send calipers for powder coating? I'm considering ordering another set and going with powder coating instead of paint.

Ideally I would have them shipped directly to the powder coater to save on shipping but I don't know if these shops typically disassemble themselves (or charge for disassembly) before powder. But if wherever I purchase is offering free shipping I'll strip them myself and ship them in a flat-rate box. I would be going for "Porsche" yellow again, and I'm not that concerned with heat causing a color change on me since I don't track... but I want something that will hold up.

The paint on mine looks to be developing some fine cracks. The painter is standing by his work and immediately offered to re-do them. But he wants to do it right, and strip them down completely... which means taking them off the car for a couple weeks. I don't have to drive my car but I'd rather not have it down and since I'm now kind of leery about paint holding up I want to go powder anyway.

If I go powder there will, at some point, be a pair of slightly used (under 2,000 miles) but freshly painted yellow calipers for sale, haha.
