Hoping some kind soul can help me here...
Purchased a UK registered 2021 VW Golf Life 2.0TDI the other day. The primary reason I went for this as an import was that it had the digital cockpit, so it would be 'easy' to convert from MPH to KMH.
Assuming it was so easy, I drove away in MPH, because that was the local thing. I really hoped it would magically recognise the border crossing like google maps does and go from MPH to KMH, but no it didn't.
After a while searching in the settings, I found unit, and converted the distance, speed, fuel consumption etc. into KM.
And what I am left with is a highly dangerous configuration, that states all over it things are in KM, but the speedo in the middle that is the main focus of my attention is still in MPH, being shown alongside a speed limit in KMH, not sure if this is legal, not sure it should be, see below.
VW Dealers are telling me that they would need to rip out the entire digital dashboard and replace it with a new one to get things into KMH, at a cost in excess of €2,000
Anyone got a suggestion of how this can be fixed safely?
