Most likely tax evasion or import duties, money shuffling into different "categories" type stuff.... as its a Chinese owned company..
Or it could be a know trade descriptions violation such as stating the product is made in the USA, when in fact its made in China & the only thing thats done in the USA is slapping a sticker on it & boxing them up individually...
Most countries have a minimum % of a product that has to be made in their country to state it....I know of a UK clothing brand who got down jackets stitched, but not filled in China....they also sourced their down from China (best place actually)...only thing that happened in UK was stuffing the "empty" jackets with the down & final stitching, final QC...& they all said "made in UK as more than 30% of the total work to the garment was done in the UK...
I know of USA brands which state "Made in USA*"....then in small print state "*= also contains components sourced from outside the USA"

Though it doesn't actually point to anything illegal it was funny to read the reviews of the company by employees. Apparently wasn't the best place to work.
