OH and anyone with a canon XLR should have a EF 50mm f/1.8 USM Autofocus Lens lens to start (or if you have an extra $200, the EF 50mm f/1.4 USM Autofocus Lens) the 1.4 will allow slightly better pictures but for a beginner, at $69.95 its a great deal and will help you learn some great techniques in photography as you will have to make the shot happen vs using the zoom to make the shot happen..

What Ryan said. Got it from BH. Also picked up a 50mm 1.8. It's a must have.
