Programmability is a really nice thing available on some of the more spendy keyboards, ideally though look for something with no supporting software. WarOwl just did a video showcasing a new Corsair keyboard though that has variable switch response, software controlled but looks real slick for games. I'd say figure out what features you want/what your use case is first and then explore from there.
The steelseries apex has a pretty interesting feature, but I feel it may be difficult to use. The example they use is having a soft press to walk forward, and then pressing the button completely turns it into a run. So I could also do things like a soft press to move, and a complete press to dodge. I imagine it would take some getting used to in order for that kind of feature to be any good. It's also got adjustable keys so you can change how far the button needs to be pressed for it to register, that's probably like what the corsair does.
My closest microcenter is 150 miles away. I noticed a lot of the switch testers on amazon are frequently returned items, thought that was kinda funny.
I got a glorious keyboard and a glorious mouse right now, but I'm ditching all this stuff. I'm gonna go back to a logitech mouse. I swore them off for a bit because they always give me double click issues. The G502X that has upgraded switches is finally not at a crazy price. The older G502s are my favorite mouse, until they double click. The glorious software sucks and I need a mouse that can do game based profiles again.
The mouse decision was an easy one to make, but the keyboard market is drastically different than the last time I looked.
