Nope. My owner shaves with a trimmer on the beard with a Braun electric.
I've never used any sort of cream afterwards and never had any irritation. I'm like dftd - I'll look in the mirror in the morning and say "I need to shave".
I was scheduled to get a new work ID about 10 years ago, went into the bathroom to make sure that my hair wasn't standing on end, saw my face and rescheduled for the next day.
