Will populate later.

Oh, the irony. I bought a 2011 CSG with DSG with 112k in November 2018 myself...lol

No mods yet either, but I have a set of Michelin PSS and Neuspeed RSE52 (18 x 8", et45, in machined silver) sitting in the garage waiting...

Headlights have micro-cracks inside the lenses as well and will be getting replaced soon and the headliner is starting to sag slightly and will also be getting replaced soon.

edit: I guess I do have one 'mod'...I removed the grill, removed the red strips from the grill (the clear coat was flaking off and they were starting to fade badly), then sanded them down and painted them with in a glossy black (3 coats of primer, 3 coats of the black base coat) before re-installing them. Turned out pretty nicely. Also, the previous owner had installed a K&N cold air intake.

Yea I changed my wheels and grabbed new tires almost immediately.
From the amount of curb rash on the stock detroits I would think the old owner drove against curb 24/7. Plus I personally don't like the looks of stock detroits, not that my current setup is much better. I just bought some cheap 17" 5 spokes to get through the winter. Thought the 17" would absorb some road noise/impact, some but think I need new suspension components/struts/etc.

I haven't replaced my headlights yet but that is sure to come in a couple months, still a bit unsure of which ones I want to go with. I also spray painted those red strips black, and turned all chrome components black. Which partially limits which headlights I can go with because some have that integrated chrome or Red strip that are supposed to "add" to the front grill ones.

I don't recommend blacking everything out like I did.
Its not bad looking but it is lacking a bit. Im gonna play around with possibly painting emblems and logos bronze.

Just looked at the wheels you posted. These are same exact wheels I'm thinking to get just in bronze. Good Taste aha:thumbup:

I was really torn between the bronze and machined silver myself. I thought the satin gunmetal looked pretty good as well and I was really considering going with a more subtle "sleeper" look with the car at first, but narrowed down the choices between the bronze and machined silver after seeing an image of another MK6 in CSG with the satin gunmetal finish. It didn't contrast very well with CSG, in my opinion. I spent a few weeks looking at pictures and my choice of the machined silver boiled down to one factor: the trim color. If the rest of the trim was refinished in bronze, I might've gone with the bronze wheels, but I didn't like the contrast between the bronze and the polished metal finish of the VW emblems. It's a subtle contrast and really subjective. However, I do love the fact that the bronze wheels are really unique looking and stand out from every other set of aftermarket wheels that are typically finished in some variation polished silver. Anyways, sorry to hijack your blog. I'll be keeping up with your updates. I'm always looking for sources of inspiration.

Wow, completely stock not even four months ago? You have been busy! Nice work so far - looking forward to see what else you'll do.
I also bought mine last November, bit later than you. I've been procrastinating on starting a build thread haha

Thanks, I have a few custom items planned as well once I get it running how I want it to.
Until then just following foot steps of those before me.

I'm installing konis and lowering springs this weekend, along with pendulum mount, and I'm hoping to squeeze in a DSG service.

I was procrastinating the longest with those engine and trans mounts, they were on my desk for like two months mocking me.

This weekend I was able to install new pendulum mount, koni struts, H&R springs, new bump stops/boots, and do a dsg service.
start 0.jpg
start 1.jpg

Although I bought new bump stops and dust covers there was additional piece that holds onto the lower dust cover. It wasn't shown on part site. Anyways this required me to take apart my old struts, something I was trying to avoid and for good reason!

One of my top strut screws was permanently seized, no amount of penetrating oil or leverage helped.
strut 5.jpg
completely snapped my allen.
strut 4.jpg
Ended up having to drill the damn thing out, luckily I didn't need these parts anymore.
strut 3.jpg
After I finally got to installing the koni struts, I removed the drive axle bolt for easier installation and removal, the first side did not want to go in all the way. The paint seemed to make the strut just slightly to big. Partially seated and moved on to next side.

The second side I sanded the paint off on the bottom lip, went in like butter.
strut 1.jpg
Then drilled out the tab on the Konis, a known issue. Its more important that the koni is fully seated then for the tab to be fully intact.

I moved back to the other side reinstalled everything but the pinch bolt to attmept to get the strut to seat all the way down. It didn't end up working, even with full weight of the car it still didn't seat. ended up using the strut spreader and tons of wd40 and a rubber mallet to finally get it fully seated. then drilled out the tab and installed pinch.
strut 2.jpg

The top bolt on the koni struts is also a pain in the ass. Ended up having to modify a socket and completely remove the scuttle in order to torque.
Front1.jpg
front 2.jpg

Rear install of Koni's was a snap but had to do the next day as fronts took forever.
rear 1.jpg
Konis are nice but their paint is just thrown on everything, even the rubber caps, meaning chips everywhere. Not a huge deal.

I installed a torque solution pendulum mount.
While being a nice aluminum piece fitment was iffy.
Mainly the fact that the middle connector was too big for the retaining arm.
mount 1.jpg
No worries just re-machined the barrel a bit.
mount 2.jpg
Then perfect fit.
mount 0.jpg
mount 3.jpg

Snuck in s DSG service as well.
dsg1.jpg
dsg2.jpg
Not difficult at all but the filter that was included in the kit was not oem and did not have a rubber gasket on the filter itself where it connects to the hole.
I installed it but Immediately ordered a new one that will be going in later this week.

After change I shifted through the gears and took her for a test drive.
Shifting feels a bit smoother but I need to do a DSG adaption.

Downshifting in sport mode from 3rd to 2nd causes the car to surge forward slightly.

I'm envious that you have access to machine tools. I worked at a machine shop for a while in college and man, I could do anything after work!
Did you have a dogbone insert before moving to the full mount? I'm wondering what your take on NVH is after the install.
