rear view camera

hi ,i know i'm not the brightest person in the world but i don't understand the lines on the rear view camera screen ,i do understand the orange curved lines and the red limit line but whats the purpose of the green lines /box

Green lines are still kind of "safe" distance to object. I have to admit, I expected more from this camera, knowing Passat B7 and Polo 6 cameras.
