I want FREE HAM!!
i hit a 3 iron that far. it is not the new school 2 or 3 degrees stronger crap either (at least it wasn't when i had the lofts checked last).
most of the tour guys are still hitting clubs with the regular lofts but some of the new consumer off the shelf stuff are pretty strong.
if i didn't golf, own the gti, tinker with the camera i'd have a lot of money.
my putter is money now though.
Ain't that the truth.
I'm sure some of the guys are using stronger lofts, but most of the reason they hit the ball so far is that everything from shaft selection, to loft (driver) to clubhead to ball is all computer analyzed and chosen for best results. I can remember going to the Callaway headquarters in Nevada and they literally have 1000 combinations of each wood for guys to hit. They may hit it 310 with club A, but their spin rate is a bit high so they stiffen the shaft up a hair and now they're at 315.
The science of it all is pretty amazing actually.
