For true Socialism to be effective you need a very large intrusive government who can oversee and monitor every aspect of every job. We turn over all profit and the ability to better yourself and your circumstances by enhancing your education, work skills and creativeness over to the government for the "idea" of our bills, food and healthcare to be taken care of by the government. I think most of us would agree that we dont necessarily think they government does a great job at many things, so why would we now want to rely on them for everything instead of having the ability to change our own circumstances? If you dont like your pay, get a raise, add skills, start a business, do e-commerce. Its easier than ever now to make money and you dont even have to get out of your pajamas to do it. Socialism sounds like a poor persons idea of how to get more and do less. This is the USA and contrary to what most think we are not a Democracy, we are a Republic. The people have supreme power to make changes as they see fit to benefit them. In Socialism the government is the supreme power and we expect them to do whats best for the people? Why would they? They barely do that now and you would think they would if for no other reason than to get reelected but what would be their reasoning once voting is gone and they have all the power? People are going to do what benefits them the most and they may take others into account however number 1 will always be themselves. If our government was looking out for us when they enacted Obamacare why did the Senate and Congress opt for their own healthcare system and not adopt it? If it was really for the people and a great idea wouldnt they have jumped on it? Their has been socialism in many countries around the world and i cant think of many where it worked and really helped the people. To me the government should be there to help protect us and make laws to support us and our changing dynamics within our borders. But we should be allowed to choose and make our own destiny. If i want to start a company and make billions i should have that right. If i want to go to a doctor all the way across town today and have my teeth cleaned i should be able to and not have to wait on a waiting list to see the doctor im told to when they say i can because thats how government regulated healthcare works when we are all sharing it and not paying for it. I agree our current healthcare situation and education system need work, a lot. But I dont think putting it in the hands to fix it of the people that got it that way in the first place sounds like a good idea. And on side note I hate politics. We all just want whats best for our families and somewhere our kids can grow up and have a safe and healthy future and we just have different ideas of how to get there. And as long as i can win the lotto and ride off into the sunset on my private jet i dont care what happens.

And this is the other problem. People hear socialism and freak out thinking we want to go all the way with it. I just think we could have a few more, and more effective, social systems than we already have while forcing capitalism to pay for it.

Or we could continue to just ignore things like huge government contracts that far exceed what the actual cost should be, the overblown military budget, and billions of dollars being sent to advertising companies every campaign year.

We toss around money like it's fucking nothing and then as soon as someone suggests helping the people out it becomes a huge problem.

No one is wanting socialism. They're asking for a modem mixed economy with progressive taxation.

Meanwhile the people that cry about 'socialism' are going to be voting for a president that doesn't want elections anymore.

And has given massive amounts of tax money to corporations and the wealthy. He'd already doubled the annual deficit before the pandemic hit.

Why poor, middle class, and small business owners keep voting for these con artists I'll never know.

They're weighed down by all sorts of really specific issues that allow them to continually vote against their own best interests.

People blinded by abortion issues or 2nd amendment propaganda are the easiest people in the world to control.

This is also why college isn't free. Keeping people uneducated is the number 1 go to for controlling them.

Who doesn't love a good train wreck of a thread? It's like watching "Housewives of MK7forum".

I'm pretty sure I started all of this from a comment I made in the other covid thread too.

'What happened to the memes?' LOL
Apparently, I'm the Alex Jones of the forum.
I like how 'no political posts' was mentioned and I go away for a couple days and it becomes completely political.
I would love to keep the meme factory alive, but it's been a hectic week.
To top it off, some mean old lady at the grocery store yelled at me for not wearing a mask. I would have loved to debate her but there's nothing I can say that won't escalate tensions with Karens. SHE WAS WEARING HER MASK, DOESN'T THAT WORK???
NYC cases have dropped to near zero, but nobody is talking about that.
I'm tired of doing the heavy lifting. So you guys win.
Read the memes 7-17 times and maybe you'll get it...

I got a friend that's soooo against socialism, it's hilarious. He went to a military school during his high school years, that his parents paid for. He graduated from a college, that his parents paid for. He went to a christian law school, that his parents paid for. For the last 11-12 years he's been living in a house more expensive than any house my parents have ever bought, pool, 3 car garage, 4 bedroom, 3 bathrooms, also paid for by his parents. I've seen him go through 5 BMWs in that time and one of those was a E90 M3. I know for sure 4 of those BMWs were all paid for by his parents, I'm not sure about his new one. He had a couple small retail jobs in his early 20s, but up until a couple years ago he wasn't working either and his parents have been sending him money.

He better hope that his parents don't die broke from supporting their snowflake son. How will he survive then?

I'd make less money under a single payer system, so not sure your point. The pandemic shows why employer based health care is a terrible idea.
Hoping you end up on a ventilator and pointing out that you're ignoring experts and are more likely to end up on a ventilator aren't the same thing.
I made fun of him calling the pandemic a hoax, then dying from that hoax. Sorry, it's funny.
I didn't say you shouldn't have internet access, I said I supported you wanting to go off the internet.
Don't hate boomers, I don't like boomer acting like they did everything on their own.
I don't hate small business owners, I don't like small business owners acting like they did everything on their own. I especially don't understand small business owners supporting the GOP, who have done everything possible to give large corporations massive advantages over small businesses and bailout large businesses at the expense of small businesses.

Populist nonsense, like your post, is destroying the country. Your posts are the Alex Jones of the mk7 forums.

I'm a boomer as you know and like I said I started my own business at age 20. So exactly how didn't I do everything on my own? Nobody and nothing ever subsidized anything for me. I'm also a small business owner who did everything on my own. The rest of the crap that you spew is just that. Crap.

But I agree with you about wearing a mask if that makes you feel better.

Oh and I'm a registered independent voter. Have voted for people from most of the political parties.

I already explained it to you. If you still can't figure out how you didn't pay for college and build your business without government and societies help, then you're not capable of grasping basic concepts of how society's and civilization work. It won't help for me to repeat myself.
