They did Danny fucking dirty. He worked his ass off for them. Was a great driver until the made max the chosen child. Sure his decision to leave was probably the worst of his career but he still won even when McLaren was at their worst. And then when he comes back to VCRB and tell him he can go back to RB they just make him leave quietly in the night. No donuts. No good bye. Nothing.

Like you said, Max was the chosen child, I think it was a good decision to leave and make his own way. He got to work with other F1 teams that were not part of the RB stable... He won with McLaren, I wouldn't have regretted it......

VCARB had horrible strategy all season but they sabotaged both drivers equally essentially, and Tsunoda has been a clear superior driver... why would they choose him over Tsunoda for the RB seat at this point, the decision might have made sense last year, but Tsunoda has proven himself by now and has matured considerably.

And he's crying all the way to the bank.

$7m per year.... it was part of his RB contract signed years ago, whether he drove for them or was a reserve, test, sim driver, etc... He got the seat over Lawson, who is 22 years old and would have benefited greatly from the experience... RB gave them more than enough of a chance, even after he broke up with them... I don't know if you guys remember the scene when Riccardo left for Renault, it was like they stole him from RB... after RB "spent" so much on him from karting, to lower formula, to Toro Rosso, only to be plucked.... and for a massive salary for a non WDC driver ($27m per year, in 2019 USD...)...

A few years after that, Mclaren paid him $36m to NOT RACE for them in 2023, and picked Piastri over him.... Piastri himself getting plucked from Alpine (he was an Alpine Junior)

That cant look good.... yet RB took him back.

edit: The biggest question really is what the fuck is Perez still doing at Red Bull? They are going to loose the WCC this year because of him 100%.

A lot of what you said was right. Yes carb sucked on strategy all year. Yes yuki has been better. But Danny went in with this expectation and unofficial promise of going back to RB.

The McLaren car didn’t fit his driving style and overall that car was awful. Yet he still won a race with it.

Whether he deserved to still be in F1 could be debatable. His performance has obviously dropped off since he left rb but he also left to teams that were in shambles. He deserves to be in more than stroll for sure.

Still my comment stands that he didn’t deserve to go quietly into the night. Dude’s been around for years. The paddock loves him. The world loves him. For him to sit at the track with almost no recognition other than telling people bye until 2 am is dirty. Hell zhou has been around only a couple years and got a whole send off in China with everyone knowing unofficially it was his last race there, and it wasn’t even his actual last race.

As far as Checo. Toto was right on DTS. He’s literally been complaining about the car and said it was fucked but RB ignored him. Again because max is the chosen child. Remember Checo was doing just fine in the rb until recently-ish. Now that max isn’t winning by 30 seconds every race they’re finally taking it seriously. And Checo was going to have a podium last weekend

Imo the "driving style" excuse is a bit of an easy out and overblown... the engineers design the car to be the fastest possible, its up to the driver to extract it all... Its a important quality for a driver to be adaptable.

Yeah there was no need for them to be so cryptic... We still don't have an official announcement, they should have just let him finish the year at this point but if they really wanted him out, they should at least announced it in the days before the race, instead it was just super awkward of him saying bye to everyone without explaining why.... it made it 10x worse.

Complete oposite to Massa, who after 15 years racing in 2016 announced his retirement and basically got send-offs every race until the end of the year (his Brasil 2016* send-off was amazing), only for Bottas to be pulled to Mercedes after the Rosberg shock retirement and going back racing again in 2017... then another year of send-offs... 2 years saying bye...

*That race was crazy, super wet.. I can tell a lot of you hate Max, I'm personally not a "fan", but after that race I was like ok, yeah this guys is probably the most naturally gifted to come in since Lewis/Fernando....

Im probably only a fan really of Fernando... Always hope for Sainz and Albon to do good as well, those guys are really cool.... I used to hate Vettel during his RB domination lol, similar to Lewis... but like Vettel once he was in a Ferrari, I have warmed up to Lewis... that British GP win this year to me was my best moment in F1, finally winning after over 3 years, and in Britain nonetheless, really humbled him, the emotion was so genuine and raw.

Checo's delta to Max is still the same as always, he is farther down the midfield than before and Max is now actually having to fight the other 3 top teams....
