2.0T differences

I was recently rereading my auto mags on the A3, A4 and GTI.
I found some interesting info.
The A3 2.0T has a lower redline than the A4 and even listed a lower compression ratio.
Very odd.

What are the engine specs for the 2.0T in the GTI?
Are they the same as the A3?

That's a good question. I'd like to know as well.

The A3 and GTI have the same engines.
It's the A4 and it's 2.0T that appears different.
I don't have the article at hand so I can't list the specs.
Perhaps someone can find them?

Also, what is the redline in the GTI/A3?
I think it's 6500rpm.
The A4 2.0T I think is listed at 6800rpm.

I was wondering how the A4 with quattro and all the extra weight can still post
0-60 runs in the 6.4 range with the 6 spd. manual. Extra revs can help.

Hi,

just a quick remark: I drove both of them prior to ordering my GTI ... the A3 isn't a real sportsman ... just a small car with a big engine. Had a lot more fun with the GTI, therefore I ordered the VW.

the curbweight of a Quattro 6 spd manual A4 is 3549 lbs while that of the 6 spd manual GTI is 3308 lbs. That's only a difference of 241 lbs

that's according to the specs of the US GTI which is seriously different from the curbweight of only 1328 kg (2925 lbs) for the european 3 doors 6 spd manual GTI. The Audi A4 here in europe has also a lesser curbweight of 1490 kg (3282 lbs) for the 6 spd manual quattro version. I think something's serious wrong with those american curbweights

241 lbs. is significant weight.
Are you sure you have the weights correct?
I'll look it up but I think the quattro A4 is closer to 400lbs more.
When 1hp is related to roughly 9-10lbs., 241lbs is a lot.
So, the A4 quattro being able to be as quick as the GTI begs the question, how?
I'm sure gearing has something to do with it as well.
