I don't know what your decent price range is.
Just save and get this, cutting corners may result in tickets.
8 yearswith valentine, leadfoot, 1 ticket

Radar detector :) ... Get your fast under control :)

Top performers are V1 (most expensive), escort X50 and Bel RX65 .. Any of these are the same except that V1 is very senesitive to laser however lser hit means tickets. If they use laser in your area I would recommand a laser jammer Blinder M20.

V1 costs around 400. I got Rx65 ($220) and Blinder M20. Best protection. I have been saved many times well worth it.

If you need more info there is a group that tests Radar detectors and laser jammers.

Valentine1, no other options. Even if the newest pasport has slightly better reception, it cant compete with the V1's directional arrows and bogey counter.

Valentine One is the ONLY ONE to have.

I have personally owned a Valentine One since '99. It's been in installed in every one of my personal vehicles, starting with my '93 Corrado SLC.

Since I have owned it I have never been stopped............. for speeding at least.

Never had a problem with it.

Glitch free.

Nice, looks like the valentine wins by a landslide. Thanks for the tips my fellow vee dubbers.

I just read posts on radar detectors a few days ago.
It seems that in general the decision is between V1 and passport 8500 (beltronics has the rx65 but i heard this is made by escort)

my father has the v1 and he loves it,
i had a much lesser detector and it drives me insane not knowing where the cop is coming from.

i know i will be getting the v1 (for the arrows) despite the 8500 may function slightly better in some areas.

side note: :eyebulge: crazy that the v1 is from 1992:clap:
and i guess v1 offers updates whenever cops get new equip.

How good does the V1 work in the urban city role? Cause im reading a lot of people driving it on the highway which i dont do nearly as much as i do city driving.

i know that beltronics has something out where you have something in the front and rear of your car to scramble the radar. it was something like $700 tho.:eyebulge: has anyone heard of it and know if its good or not?

I use V1...
but if you are on a budget i would go for Passport 8500 x50 blue to match the interior

Anyone have experience with Uniden Beartracker system? I think it is BTC7 or BCT8. It is a scanner that can track where Highway Patrol are within 3 miles. I was thinking this might be better than a radar detector. Just looking at options.
