Cheap Leather Look?

Whilst looking through a GTI U.K brochure i noticed that the leather upholstery may contain leatherette.Surely if you pay over a grand for leather you should get leather. Is this the norm for all makes.:thumbdown:

Some places (for instance, the lower door trim things) it's not sensible to have leather, and leatherette is much more practical.
Even Mercedes and Porsche include leatherette in places in their cars.
I quite like the look and feel of the VW Anthracite leather, very taut and comfy.

All the seats and arm rest and steering wheel and everything are real moocow leather.
There's a few bits (lower door trims, as I mentioned, plus a few other minor bits) that are not real leather, but they're mostly in low-access/low-visibility areas where real leather would not be practical.

It says in the catalogue that any areas not in direct contact with the driver or passanger may contain leatherette
