Are used cars a lot more in Canada too or do new values just drop fast?

Why are cars so much in Canada? Can you import them from the US?

sometimes its cheaper to buy in the states and drive up. harder for me to do because we live kinda far from the boarder. but for people living in boarder towns/cities, its way cheaper to buy from US and driving up.

BUT, by doing that, the warranty becomes void here in canada. also, we have to pay the tax on the value of the car in cash which could end up being 10k depending on value of the car.

for me, if i were to consider doing something like this, i need to factor in cost/benefit. the cost of me spending time finding a dealer, calling, placing order, buying a plane ticket, hotel, gas money, then paying import tax on the car might end up being close to even to buying a local car (but with full factory warranty).

I paid $14500 out the door for mine. Used 06 29k package 1 (sun roof, climate controls, leather.)

I pad $16.9K (before tax title) for 07 ORANGE with 11K miles in Feb 08.

overall, everything costs more in canada than US. everything from cars (new/used) to clothes and food.

i paid 21k for my 07 with 60xxxkm's package 1 GTI back in 2010. and it was a bargain. black book says the car is worth about 24k on the high end. with similar miles
