1.6 MK6 feeling sluggish

Hi all, I hope this is the correct thread to post on.

I have a 2009 mk6 golf 1.6, since having the car, it’s felt like it’s lacking power.

When accelerating there is what can only be described as a in breath whirring sound, it feels slightly blocked, I don’t know how to explain what it feels like to drive but it doesn’t move like a 1.6 should. TIA

Nope, no lights on at all, I’ve checked the air filter just to eliminate it and it’s as clean as a whistle
