DSG gearbox noise shifting from P <-> D

Hey folks

I hear and feel a knock when shifting (flicking the small gear shifter) between P and D gears on my Golf 8. Is this normal?!

If you put your car on P and the car slightly rolls, the park "pin" latches on and it tenses up. When you go back into D it has to detense and release and it does like a pop sound. This is normal. To avoid this, stop the car with the foot brake, put the car in N, engage the Parking Break, release the foot brake, and put the car in P. If you do that and it still happens, then you should probably go to your dealer and get it checked up.

Exactly as described above, if you’re not using the parking brake and just leave it in park you will feel the transmission ‘uncouple’ as it moves back to D, do as s3bax describes and you shouldn't get any further issues, remember, a DSG is a dual clutch semi auto, not a torque converter auto, if you were to park a manual car with it in 1st gear and no parking brake applied, you’d have difficulty moving the lever back into neutral if the car was resting on the transmission, this is effectively what you are doing here, not good for the lifespan of the transmission either.
