Headlamp or just a bulb upgrade

Hi, just acquired my first Golf through a bereavement and even though my previous car was 22 years old it was a high spec and had Xenon headlights. My 2019 golf has halogen bulbs and look so dim compared to my old car so has anyone legally improved their headlights either by changing the whole headlight assemblies or led bulb kits or just a better H7 bulb?

Virtually all "LED replacement bulbs" are NOT "E" marked"....In the UK the MOT has been altered so a tester can fail a car with LED replacement bulbs....but only where a Halogen "H" bulb is usually fitted, i.e. the front dipped beams, main beam, front fogs, front turn/cornering lights etc...

So you can use LED replacement bulbs legally in the UK on the indicator & all rear lights, as these are never "H" type....


You can go for better quality direct replacement "H" bulbs, usually combined with a higher colour temp, numerous options made by Osram or Phillips

We drive on the left hand lane in the UK....Driver sits on the right hand side of vehicle...I would check up with Osram or the UK sellers to double check before you buy one of those expensive units...

I assumed it meant as on coming traffic passes you on the right hand side
New headlamp units are almost a £1000.00. Seen a few complaints about some of the eBay units not fitting properly.

Headlight units are NOT cheap....best option is to fit much better bulbs like the Osram nightbreakers....or the Philips versions...
