When it comes to Pistons , Mahle Motorsport Powerpack lead the industry. Precision Forged from a 2618 Alloy and Key Features Include:
Mahle Motorsport PowerPack Line Up:
· Forged from 2618 Alloy (same as JE)
· Available in 83mm Bore & 83.5mm Bore & 9.0:1 CR is Standard With -8 cc Dish in the Piston Dome.
· 20mm wrist pin in standard
All Mahle Motorsport Powerpack Pistons have the following key features:
o Forged Side Reliefs – This Removes Excess Weight from the Skirt of the Piston Resulting in an Overall LIGHTER Unit Compared to Competing Products Currently on the Market
o Slipper Skirt Design (Industry Standard)
o Ultra Flat Ring Grooves
o Grafal Skirt Coating – Proprietary to Mahle Motorsport. This is key for VAG engines with aluminum blocks that are Nikasil / Alusil Treated. Typically aluminum blocks require to be iron sleeved if a Wiseco or JE piston is used, but with Mahle Motorsport Pistons coated with there Grafal Coating, simply boring and honing as you would with an iron block is all that is needed. The Grafal Coating is all used in the reduction of piston noise and aids in giving a “pillow” to the piston skirts.
If you are looking for an UBER Strong but Lightweight FORGED Piston then these are the ticket over the JE Unit. Will require I-beam squared end small rods.
