TT - check out the review in the review thread I posted above, it's a good read. Yes, EVO Magazine is a UK publication. The car they tested had 18's and was manual.

I did, and thank you again.
Great read.

I hope you can fix the links in some of the reviews.
They aren't working.
I can list them for you if you like?

I think they all work, for some of them it takes you to a member's only restricted area so you have to click on the review again to download.

I did a 15.4 stock. It was 33deg celsius and at about 6000ft. To put it in perspective a stock C55 did a 14.7 that day.

I just bought me a Gtech Pro SS-model. One of these: http://www.gtechpro.com/ss.html

Has anyone tried these on a track, how accurate they are? I remember the older models were optimistic with terminal speeds.

I did 4 test runs, just to try out the meter. I used the original pitch correction value of 2.0. My car is DSG GTI, 17" wheels, 3-doors, launch control and fuel tank was almost empty.

1st run (short sprint just for test, traction was bad):

0-60mph 6.25s
60ft 2.432s

2nd run (short sprint, again bad traction):

0-60mph 6.27s
60ft 2.404s

3rd run (S-mode shifted to 2nd way too soon when trying to control throttle, so crappy run):

0-60mph 6.46s
60ft 2.424s
1/4-mile 14.854s @ 95.28mph

4th run (put it in manual-mode, first gear went now pretty much perfect):

0-60mph 5.88s
60ft 2.333s
1/4-mile 14.417s @ 96.55mph

we had 2 stock ones run in the duttn rally here in australia 1 manual and the other dsg and both ran in the high 14's one was 14.8 and the other 14.9 not sure which was which though and the focus xr5(st) ran a 15.13.

as for the gtech i have the pro rr model and found it to be accurate when i ran my SSS down the 1/4 the gtech said 16.18 the track said 16.175 the speed i think was always within 5mph too.

Other than that last 14.4 second run... I think it the 0-60 and 1/4 mile time is quite accurate.
How much HP does that thing say the GTI have?

Only the last accelaration run went without major problems. So its not any less or more accurate then the first ones? With more traction faster times are easily possible.

It says I have 155hp. I have estimated 1450kg put in as weight.

I did more runs today just for the fun of it  It was a lot warmer then yesterday. I didnt keep any cool down periods between the runs, just drove away

I drove the same road back and forth, so averaging the times should give pretty accurate results. I will get on a real track in a month, so it will be fun to check how close the times are to real measuring equipment.

1st run, short test sprint with cool engine, the best 0-60mph so far:
0-60mph 5.83s
60ft 2.303s

2nd run:
0-60mph 6.24s
60ft 2.377s
1/4-mile 14.73 @ 94.4mph

3rd run:
0-60mph 5.93s
60ft 2.339s
1/4-mile 14.44 @ 96.8mph

4th run:
0-60mph 6.05s
60ft 2.367s
1/4-mile 14.55 @ 96.1mph

5th run:
0-60mph 6.21s
60ft 2.419s
1/4-mile 14.71 @ 94.9mph

Average:
0-60mph 6.052s
1/4-mile 14,607s @ 95,55mph

lol you gotta take it to a real test track!
I see 14.4 as one of the times and that is really hard. I know that chipped gti's get that much, but yours is stock I assume.

Ok. I took it to the track. I removed spare tire and the backrest of backseat for some weight reduction. 14.4309s@155.1913kmh/h (96.45mph). Car is still completely stock.

Part of the run is seen in this video at the start, it focuses on the other car:
http://www2.kauhajoki.fi/route67cc/Videot/Videot06/Testi-ilta14.7.2006Autokooste.wmv

My reaction time is bad because I was trying to press OK in my G-tech, and the bloody thing fell from the window :) I almost lost my concentration :)

Wait... do you have launch control?

I forgot that US models don't. That makes a big difference.
Great time mate.

Yes, I have launch control. I still have a "not so good" 60ft time, even though I felt the launch went pretty good. I have seen better 60ft times from US cars without LC.

I had G-tech working ok on my second run which was a tenth slower then this first run (14.5s @ 154.9km/h) and it registered a 5.7s 0-60mph time, quarter times were withing .1-.2s and terminal speed almost dead-on. G-tech slightly on the optimistic side.
