Loccusst, did you have to sand down the GTI before you painted it? Also what kind of paint did use? just a simple plastic paint? and lastly did you put a coat of black over it? it looks tinted or smoked or something. Looks real cool, sorry for all the questions, but props to you.

I gently sanded it to scuff up the chrome area. I painted the letters off of the little plastic part that clips onto the grill and painted them with auto paint from Autozone. The red is as close as you can get with off the shelf paint. The color is Dupli-Color Import Auto Spray Super Red II. I painted the letters a flat black primer first and did several light coats of the red. The letters will pop off rather easy if you heat the adhesive up first with a heat gun.

My buddy at work is gonna get a black GTI today so if he wants to do this than I will post a DIY on here when we do his.

Thanks....and yes you woul dhave to remove the rear emblem. Use the heat gun.
