I posted this on the Vortex, but thought I'd post here too:
I've had my GTI two weeks now (I've put about 500 miles on the car) and the whole time I could smell the brakes after driving the car. I thought it was a normal break-in smell, but last night the smell was much stronger. I checked it out and the rear brakes were HOT - I didn't touch the rotors, but I could feel the heat coming out of the wheel well and when I touched the rims, they were really warm. The fronts seemed fine - no excessive heat. My theory is that even with the e-brake fully off, the pads are still making contact with the rotors causing excessive heat. The dealership is going to check it out tomorrow (I left the car home today so the problem won't get any worse), but has anyone seen this?
