You deffinately need a turbo timer even with the technology helping a bit, because of the amount of heat created by the extra boost that you put on the engine.... Talking about the exhaust, in my opinion it is better to have the exhaust custom made, this is the way i have it and it works freaking great...

wastegate prevents the turbo from creating too much boost in order to prevent damage to the motor and keep the boost levels under the turbo's threshold.
blow off valve releases already built up preassure in the system after the throtlle plate is closed so that the preassure doesnt surge the compressor side of the turbo.

you dont need one the engine has a system of its own. by the time you put it in park the turbo has cooled down
