Are we trying to lock this thing down? I think it's important to remember that our choices were this or Hillary. I'm a Democrat, have had family members involved in the cabinet of a few Presidents, but I don't have any delusions that there were no good choices last time around and I'm hesitant to believe that there are this time either. Calling out either side for pretty much anything at this point is a bit of a glass house.

Let's just imagine the shit show that we'd be neck deep in if Hillary had won and Epstein went down like it did.

Clinton wasn't my first choice, but she was certainly a competent choice that wouldn't have turned the country into an authoritarian white nationalist dumpster fire with a pandemic spiraling out of control 9 months after being warned about it.

Snicker, I do agree that she was at least qualified for the job and speaking in public, but the hatred from the other side and the gridlock that McConnell would have achieved would have had us in a similar state. Republican governors would still be doing the same stupid things and leaving their states in a total mess, with no regard for their front line workers, teachers or populace as a whole.

But treating this like an us vs them thing, from either side, is just ridiculous. People support Trump, they're not going to die from a plague of locusts because of it. Democrats aren't going to get gilded willies either (not sure that's a plus.) There's no right side, just a chance to work together and get past this shit. Write in Fauci in November.

Leadership is a fascinating thing, and the ability of events to be either led through, or around tyrannical leaders is of particular interest. I had the chance to work in Germany for a number of years and enjoyed having beer fueled conversations with the older crowd about their perspective of both WWII and the events that immediately followed, both in the east and west side of the country.

When Trump came into office, the Germans immediately announced a change in strategy for negotiating with the US. They called it the Donut Theory since they didn't trust the middle, they'd go to the outer ring instead, deal with Congress and the gubernatorial side, ignoring the President. Germany, the EU and many other countries have made continued progress working around the top. Progress is always available, you just have use some creativity and perseverance to achieve it. But name calling and touting retribution and consequences doesn't get anyone anywhere. We all woke up, presumably put on at least some clothes and logged onto a website that we all have something in common about. Why chastise those that we share at least one commonality with? Go out and yell at random people, wear some tin foil for bonus points.

And sorry, I have nothing to do with the consequences they'll have to deal with, they're just a fact. See, these people don't understand the difference between socialism and a modern mixed economy. Want to know what destructive socialism looks like? It's continually bailing out corporations after they act wrecklessly, subsidizing their profits, not jailing them for violating the law and committing fraud over and over.

Capitalism is a great system for producing a quality TV, car, couch, etc.....at a good price and creating economic activity. It's a terrible system for criminal justice, health care, education, utilities, infrastructure and other basic needs of a modern first world country. That's why every western government, including the US is a mixed economy, we just do a terrible job of it and are moving backwards, allowing corporation to do things like run prisons, then lobby for more laws to fill those prisons. You just don't care because it hasn't affected you yet, but they're running out of black guys to fill up those prisons and you're going to be next.

Been working from home since March. My company said we will most likely not go back this year. How's everyone adjusting? Feels weird to be home ALL THE TIME. I go to coffee shops from time to time, which seems to help. Now i'm stuck in a place where i feel it's going to be REALLY hard to go back to the campus and be wired M-F 8-5, now that they've given us a taste of full remote work.
