Pretty sure, yeah. I'm willing to bet it's the original battery.
This is a picture of the battery. Apparently they have a code on them to tell when they were replaced. Do you know which one it is

Looks like I’m going to have to change it. Do you think this will sort out the stop start, front assist and adaptive cruise control problems. Also do new batteries need coding

If those systems were not working properly because of a low battery then yes. Sometimes a new battery needs to have adaptation but not often.

Right I’ll get it changed then. The person at Halfords said that the battery didn’t need changing but I’ll still do it
All these quicky tests check to see if the battery is capable of starting the car, but they can't check whether the voltage is capable of dropping down to a point where the CAN network becomes unstable.

Unfortunately car technology is getting more and more complex and the testing equipment by Halfrauds et al. isn't keeping up with the times.

If you're still uncertain about a potential unnecessary expense I suggest trying to find someone with a similar size and type of battery that you can swap in temporarily to see if it helps.

Fingers crossed off to see a VW specialist tomorrow who has a VCDS. He’ll be able to get to the root of the problem. I’ll keep you updated

Turns out you were right! Halfords did it wrong. I went to an independent garage on got a diagnostic check and they said the battery needed changing. I can post the print out of the problems if you want

Yep, those codes are what I would expect to see with a failing battery.
Went to Halfords to pick up a new battery. Showed the lady at the counter a £150 start stop AGM battery(the current battery in the car is an AGM) and she went and gave me and EFB battery but I didn’t realise until now! Can this Still be used in replace of the old AGM and which is better
