I think I read a post from you in which you stated you came from a B5.5 TDI and made the switch to your GTI. Your post said you test drove the TDI and the GTI; and that the GTI felt more peppy. I understand the GTI is faster overall. But did the TDI's extra 40-lb/ft at lower rpms not feel a tad better (initially)? Or does the GTI overcome that quickly enough to not matter?
I'm bouncing back and forth between the GTI and a TDI. I was considering a JSW. But it's out now that the 2.0T is no longer an option. Emissions crap and now the HPFP issue is causing me to shy from the TDI for a while at least. The power mods for the GTI are quite appealing. But I'm watching the development of emissions testing.
Anyway, enough babbling here. I just wanted to get your thoughts on your TDI vs. GTI decision. BTW, I also have a B5.5 (1.8T). How is the GTI's ride in comparison? And backseat room?
