Stock struts, did it for the last 3 VWs and have not had once single ounce of a problem...even after 140K...

Yeah, they are just H&R Sports, the ride is fine, can't really tell a difference.

Only springs with no problems after 140k? I was told that replacing only the springs halves the life of the shocks...true?

Well it didnt half the life of my past two cars, a month before trading in the MK4 I had the suspension checked and it was 100% fine, nothing needed to be replaced...

And I have some seriously bad roads around here..

How much did the springs drop your car?
Maybe an inch or so?

well I can get two fingers in the front, and 3 in the back...over 1.5 in the front the mechanic told me...it's lower than I thought.
