The 1810 software update has updates for other control units:
Engine/ Brakes / Reverse Camera / Gateway / BCM / Infotainment / Mild Hybrid Battery / Parking sensors / OCU /Keyless / Antenna / Starter.
Also for Gte/eHybrid it could be necessary to swap the 12V battery module.
I know of 3 Golf 8 drivers that talk highly of 1810 compared to 166x.
The 1890 is quicker and more reactive compared to older versions 17xx/180x)
This will eventually come to 1810 too ( or straight to 1896)

@Massimo 2323 There is already the 1896 update? I just updated to 1890 just three weeks ago

At the dealer. Golf's do not update OTA, only some minor updates.
