Some shots of my baby.
Built it myself with the help of my friend who builds drums and imports drums for a living. He brought the rough carved shell and head in from africa. He helped me reshape the inside and bearing edge for better sound production and i sanded and finished the outside myself. its 5 or 6 coats of oil and a lot of sanding lol. Then i soaked and seated the head and roped it all. There is almost 100 feet of rope in that drum. The thinner rope on the top and bottom rings is a kevlar reinforced cord and the rope going between the two is a 5mil high strength gear rope. The amount of force on each rope is pretty impressively high.
