Hi guys, and thanks for having me at this forum. Seems like a great place with a ton of information out there.

So here's the problem I stumbled upon, 2 days ago out of nowere I got an ABS dashlight that's on constantly and the 'Start & Stop system not working + Electronic parking brake'.

I did a scan with VCDS and it shows me a ton of errors. Car is completely stock, new clutch installed a couple of weeks ago but I don't think that is the issue since the car had been working fine all the time. I can still drive. Tried resetting DTC but it pops up back immediatly again. Here are my logs, don't mind the radio logs I just unplugged it since I have an aftermarket one, thought that may be a culprint:

Welcome to the forum. I know that you said you have been driving it regularly but usually when there's that many codes it's a sign of a weak battery. A weak battery certainly explains the start/stop not working.

Correct. Blackscell should have the battery tested.

Battery was indeed old, however, problem is still there. Got a new original battery, coded and well.

Drive a while and some errors cleared up.

But still, EPB, Autohold, Airbag and Start stop are there. When scanning with VCDS is shows almost an error in everything. What should I check next?

I checked the fuses, they are well. Also vcds shows that it cannot access the Airbag module. Will post an autoscan later

In general, it will take about a half hour drive for the battery errors to clear. Did you try clearing codes and did they come back?

Tell us more about the radio and the radio install? Did you disconnect the airbag light when you installed the new radio - without disconnecting the battery?

Radio got installed without removing the warning light. I drove about 45 minutes. The errors come back immediatly after clearing so I think that it wasnt the battery. But that's fine though, the battery is 6 years old so should've been replaced anyway. But it was holding charge well

Hi all.

I am wondering if the OP found the cause of the problems? I seem to have a similar situation.

OK, thanks for quick response. I was afraid of that for myself too (sounds expensive). Not sure how yours got water ingress where it is located though? I was hoping it was just going to be the battery, because mine is long overdue to die.

It's located behind your shifter between the panels. I bought mine second hand, total fix was about 150$ or something. Gotta code it and has to be the exact same part nr. Try replacing your battery first though before messing with ABS

Yes, I know where it is located, and that is why I am a bit surprised that yours had water ingress. I would have thought it was quite well protected there. I haven't tried to remove it yet, those three nuts look like buggers to reach. But thanks a lot for the follow up info and for the tips. You may have saved me some extra grief.

No problem. I dont know if you have VCDS, but my module looked ok. Just had tiny specks of water, no clue how it got in there. Was hard to see too. When I unplugged the ABS module and then scanned the car or checked the errors on the dash, it would stay the same.

That basically tells you the module does nothing and is in for a replacement.

Also, the 3 bolts are annoying but nothing too shabby. Took me about 10 minutes with just a small ratchet.

Btw, this error can also pop up when the airbag cable underneath the seats get loose. So a VCDS scan will help you tons.

Just since my last post on here, I received some info back from a guy who restores airbag modules and, without me even mentioning moisture damage, he said he has seen failures of these where communications to the module is lost (as in your and my case) caused by moisture damage. He said the culprit was the airconditioner having a blocked drain hose! That would make perfect sense based on the module's location. I shall be pulling mine out in the next couple of days and will check for moisture damage. But as a precaution, so your newly fitted module doesn't go the same way, I would suggest looking to see if there could be a blocked drain hose on your AC.
My VCDS gateway error listing was identical to yours!

Thanks alot for your response, that makes alot of sense. Sold the car, had fun driving it for 5 years without any issues. Got a good deal for a 6R and now tuning it to the max
