I have a 99 Sonata that broke down on me today and I'm trying to figure out the cause...I was driving around 40 MPH when the check oil light came on, I was trying to give it gas however the engine was not responding and as I started to lose speed the engine finally turned off, I then lost power steering at about 20 mph and I luckilly rolled into a parking spot. Oil level is normal, tried a jump start but the car still wouldnt turn on and the headlights and interior lights turn on so I doubt its the battery. The engine turns and it makes noise as if it wants to turn on however the engine never fully turns on. I believe it might be the fuel pump or a fueling problem. If anyone has any thoughts or experience with the issue feel free to chime in before I get it towed on monday.

Not Necessarily. The battery would have been low/dead. You can check for fuel pressure by pressing the Schrader valve on the fuel rail. Are you sure you didn't run out of gas? Does the vehicle have an iac, or an electronic tb?
