Key fob - emergency key won't stay in

Hi all,

Has anyone else's key ended up like mine, where the emergency key part will not stay attached to the fob itself?

It looks like a part may be bent inside the key. Can this be fixed, or is the only option to buy a new key from VW - which will no doubt cost a fortune?

I believe the part highlighted in red should move, but is completely stuck.

Cheers,
Ian

Mine does the same from time to time, I take the battery cover off and make sure it clicks fully 'home'. You could try phoning VW, not your dealer, act helpless & worried and say the embergeny key won't stay in, ask if it's covered under warranty, or as your clip appeard to be bent, you could maybe (maybe) try bending it VERY GENTLY back into place with nose pliers to match your other key fob. And sadly, my key fobs are equally scratched like yours, black shiny plastic looks nice, but only for a while.....
