They increase accidents and cause more issues than resolve them... People don't know whether to speed up or slow down. And when they do slam on their brakes they get rear ended or get caught speeding through a yellow that turns red. It's just too many problems.
But when an officer catches them in that spot running a red light now they will be hit with a bigger ticket due to the fact that they can prove it was you driving and issue points for the ticket. I'm just basing this on what NY does don't know how the system works in other states... In NY it's only a $50 fine when the camera gets you but if a cop gets you it's a different story.
I know it's a speeding ticket. If I would have run a red light, it would have gotten me for that, too. So the red light cameras don't measure speed as well in NY?
