Surprisingly decent, they get up to temp quick and handle heat well, I feel like Id get more grip with totl 200tw tires but theyre at least better than the bfg all seasons I had before

Took 4 seconds off my PR yesterday at Thunderhill East. I definitely had another second or two to gain today but had a few hot laps that unfortunately got cut short by traffic. There were some really slow people that should’ve been in novice group. Great day overall though, car ran perfect the whole time.

Track name: Thunderhill East (Bypass)
Track location: Willows, CA
Lap time: 2:12.253
Year/model: 2017 GTI S
Estimated total vehicle weight with driver: 3300
Estimated wheel horsepower: 220
Fuel: 91
Tire size and model: 235/40/18 Yokohama Advan Apex V601 (280TW)
Estimated ambient temperature: 50F
Notes on setup (turbo, suspension setup, rain, frightened, etc.): EQT coilovers, 2.5F/2.0R camber, Macan brakes, Ferodo DS2500, RS3 ducts, little traffic at the end.

Very nice lap, and I really like your camera position.

4 seconds is freaking huge. on a 2 and change lap. What do you think were the was biggest factors for the much quicker times?

Thanks!

This was only my 3rd time running Thunderhill East (2nd if you don’t count running the 5 mile) so I was still working on getting the line perfect. The other major change was my braking. I tend to brake very conservatively but pushed myself to brake later and later on this day. I think sub 2:10 is possible in this car on a perfect lap for me. Will have to wait till next year to try though.

Spreadsheet is updated, I realized I was missing a few times. Also, going forward if you beat your best time somewhere with the same setup/notes as before, I'm going to just overwrite the old time. Just an FYI if you see something missing.

First time at BW, definitely wont be the last! Favorite track so far. Fellow MK7 at the event came very close to hitting sub 2, maybe someday I'll get there too.

What brake pads were you running? Stock suspension?

Formula Auto X Performance Street Pad. Motul RBF 660 fluid.
Used to run EBC Yellow but these are just as good, less expensive, and less dusty. There aren't many options for the PP brakes.

Yes stock suspension. I just added the 25mm RSB in April.
I only have the Racingline catch can added. Car is stock.

Nice driving (y), youre a sec faster than my buddy with an IS38 mk7 on coils. Last I was out there I was stuck running 2:16s, I've got some work to do
Where were you able to get the pads? Might go with those to replace yellows as the price seems right, was also considering Powerstop "track day" spec pads too

Thank you. I've got some work to do as well. I'll be back there in Feb to see if I can get some more time. I know I left at least 2 seconds out there. You can get the pads from wdlracing.com. Local race shop here in Phoenix. You might have to call them directly since they don't list the ones for the MK7 on their website. Owner is one of the HPDE group leaders here in the NASA AZ Region. Many other cars here in NASA AZ are running them and have lots of positive feedback. You can see for yourself in the reviews on their site.
