Pretty bad week

I got 2 speeding tickets in two days! first one going 72 in a 60 and second one going 95 in a 70. Both of them on the freeway getting tagged by a laser. For those of you who want to get a radar detector, They don't do shit against lasers. It goes off only right when your getting tagged. My Escort 8500 x50 didn't help me at all.
I was just wondering if it would be possible to get one of them deferred, now that i have two. I know Its totally my fault that i got the tickets so I don't feel very good about Contesting them in court.

man, some just have the luck or not.. my girl has a radar dector and still gets tickets.. I just use common sense and be aware of your whereabouts. I'm constantly watching my mirrors and checking the blind corners. I've Been driving since i was 18 and going to be 28 this year and still no tickets.. People say i always jinks myself but it still dosent happen.. It's all about using common sense and going with the flow of the traffic.. especially I have my front pass and driver side windows tinted and still havent gotten pulled over for it.. i just roll them down when im driving in the streets and roll them up in the freeway.. it's just using common sense.. sometimes a bit of luck but mostly common sense.

i had my drivers licence revoked for 5 years when i got caught doing 159 in a 55 i have the ticket in a frame....in my condo..really fucked my life up though but now it's a trophey...i spent week in jail in jersey...

if you keep another car in front of you, change lanes so someone is behind you, or the cop doesn't have a clear shot with the radar he cant "tag" you. You gotta work with the flow of traffic and not leave your self open. Try not to be the first around a big turn or over a hill. I cant stand when anyone drives close to me but at this point I know where they hide and I know when to get in behind someone.

With the Valentine 1 if there shooting laser up ahead it will bounce off another car and the radar will pick it up so you know to slow down. If no ones in front of you and there not shooting the laser you'll never know its coming.

Also fight those tickets, go to traffic school, or hire a lawyer to reduce the penalty. Points on your license will really fuck you in the long run. There on your record for 7 years. Insurance is a bitch with points.

just as advice. i used to swear by radar detectors. and i got alot of tickets when i had one. I have not had my V1 Valentine for over a year now and i can say the same for how many tickets ive been written.

I'd have to agree.. I didn't have one.. got like one ticket in 4 years or so.. had one for a few years.. more tickets then I Can count.. haven't used one in a few years I've had one ticket.

I didn't rely on it one bit and that didn't matter, I still kept an eye out and I still got stopped. Most of my stops were pacing from far back or laser which regardless of which detector you have if it goes off they have your speed. Why was I stopped though? Because I was always the guy going 2mph more then traffic so they picked me out, they paced me or stopped me from the pack if using radar. If traffic is doing 80 in a 65 they don't care, they are getting the guy going 82. At that point they don't even need to get your exact speed they just have to get the guy next to you going 80 and see you are moving past him, that means you are going faster he has a reference speed.

Saying that you had it go off and they didn't stop you just means you were driving slow not that it necessarily gave you enough warning. Since laser has to be aimed right at the car watch a cop using it next time you go buy. Notice all the cars around you slamming on the brakes when they are 400 feet from him, look right at the cop and check the angle of his gun, it is pointed a half mile back up the road. He got your speed and everyone around you over a 1/4 mile ago before you even saw him. If you are doing 80 and the guys all around you are doing 80 he is not going to waste his time. If the cop does have the gun down and is maybe thinking of pulling out just look at him, try and make eye contact. No one trying to avoid attention who is guilty is going to try and make eye contact. I've done this plenty of times just had the cop shake his head with a smile on his face. It showed I was paying attention and also gave him respect that I acknowledge he was there, very rarely will they come out after that.

I speed every time i get on the freeway and the most i'v gotten is a border patrol charger flash is lights at me when i romped it down an onramp and merged at almost 90 and then slowed down to 80.

Guess i'v been lucky so far. but i do keep an eagle eye out for cops before i do anything.

Bounce off occasionally happens, but its rare. The laser beam is so small and tight that there is very little fall-off [unlike radar]. I am speaking from experience here. Following a large black old-skool Checker cab. Major laser trap ahead. LEO targets the Checker, and nothing on my V1. two seconds later... BLEEEEEEP.

There really isn't anything a radar detector can do with laser. It is too fast, and if the operator is trained, has a steady hand, and has a good vantage point he'll nail you before you knew what happened.

only solution is a jammer and Veil for your headlights to minimize the ability to lock the laser on you. not perfect, but better than nothin'

Yea they can get you from pretty far back. I was watching for cops, one got me and he was pulling onto the road before I could even see him.

Even with a good radar/laser detector, you have to keep your head on a swivel. If you see a cop outside of his car, with the door open, or with the window open, chances are he's using laser (it doesn't work through glass). Once you see that, you have to slow down NOW.

I've been tagged many times with laser (my Escort tells me so), but never written up for it. You have to be aware and act quickly.

Good luck and slow down (at least until these two tickets are resolved).
