R20 Snow Wheels and Tires 2023

Just received my Golf R and already am planning on winter. Would like to have a dedicated set of winter wheels and snow tires. I would imagine 18" is possible, 17" not so much?

(Moving on from my 2012 Golf R. I have dedicated 17" wheels/snow tires that will not clear the calipers.)

Curious to know what others are planning. I'm in Northern Michigan so all wheel drive and snows are a must. Thanks for your help!

This forum is predominantly ROW (Rest of World) folks.

As such, solutions given here may not be available on our side of the pond.

Not that this isn't a good resource/forum as well.
The ROW folks are privy to stuff we never see on our side.
ala the Infotainment FW discussion, etc...

You can run 17s, but not as easily as a narrow winter wheel. I will likely use my 19s for winters once I burn off the stock Goodyears.

These are 17x9 ET41 with 255/40-17 Hankook RS4s.

Note - neither front or rear gap is representative in that pic.

Cool. I have a set of 18" BBS wheels coming in, will use Blizzaks and take it from there. At least if they don't fit, the dealer can send them back!
