Should i start a new career

This past Monday my job decided it was time to part ways. I worked there for 4 years as an export classification specialist. I was very well paid, the top producer, and was able to really get my life on track financially and personally. I do not have a college education and am well aware I will probably not be able to find a job that pays what I was making and that's fine with me. I have done sales in the past and was thinking about getting back into the car sale game. Last time I did this was back in 2009/2010 at Chevrolet when the market was awful and I did not truly care about the product. A close by VW dealership has an opening for a salesman and I am truly passionate about the brand and would definitely have what it takes to make sales happen daily. My question to everyone is what is your opinion of what my options could potentially be? I am also open to taking some courses in trade compliance to further my career I started at my former job. I am in my late 20s, married, homeowner with no kids. Any advice is truly appreciated.

I'm sorta in the same boat. I made a career change a few years ago and going through the same thing again. Like you, I'm considering going back to my roots. Good luck finding something. Being on un-employment and job searching/trying to find your best fit SUCKS. Especially when I'm in the middle of my engagement and set to get married in March.

Thanks vlkswgnvgmn66. Good luck and congratulations on your engagement and future wedding. My wedding day went by so fast I just remember reciting my vows and the next minute im on a plane going on my honeymoon lol. The job hunt is awful and I feel like there is no finding a best fit. My former job was something completely new to me I knew nothing about and within 3 months I was top guy so you never know what your capable of being good at.

Hello. And Bye.

Best second post ever!

SRT - I would try to stay in the same field if you can. You have an established track record and income history. Unless you hate what you do, your experience is very valuable.

Just my 2 cents, but I'm 42 and I've been there. Best of luck with the decision/search.

Yup, stay put for now. If you hate it then leave.

But selling cars isn't fun IMO, I've never done it but I've worked in sales for almost 5 years now.
