The bike thread - mountain, road, fat, TT, DJ, cross... what are you riding?

Road mainly.
I mainly ride road. Bikes include: newish carbon road bike, 10 year old Aluminum road bike (I really should sell this one), 16 year old full suspension steel road bike and a Brompton folding bike purchased in England.
Last ride was just after Christmas. I'm waiting for the snow to clear, I probably won't ride much until April.
I just purchased my GTI this week. I don't know if I will primarily transport the bike inside or have a hitch installed and use a rack.
Do you transport your bike with your Golf/GTI? How?

Been a MTB cyclist originally for +20yrs. Recently about 4yrs ago got into Road Bikes/Cycling through a family member and have been hooked ever since. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy MTB'n every now and then. 2013 was a crazy season of completing "bucket list" cycling events like "Death Ride, Alta Alpina 8 Challenge, California Triple Crown and others). Glad that's over! What a pain in the rear that was. 
While I still enjoy road biking, I'm taking it easy this year on the long distance & endurance stuff. My Old body can't recovery as fast anymore.
The OEM racks and Thule Paceline 527 have been holding up great for bringing my bike(s) to/from cycling events/spots.
Great to hear there are other cyclist hear.

I go back and forth between mountain and road. The past 2 years I've done a ton of road biking, my wife and I did Ironman Boulder in 2014 and Ironman Louisville in 2013 so we did lots and lots and lots of road miles training for those.
My wife and I both have identical Ketrel tri bikes except mine has ENVE wheels and an Adamo saddle and hers has Zipp Firecrest wheels and a WTB saddle. I have a Specialized Tricross Comp cyclocross bike and she has a Scatante cyclocross bike. I have a Specialized Stumpjumper EVO 29 hardtail, she has an old Trek 6000 disc and a Scott Scale Expert carbon hardtail 29er with upgrades. And I'm currently in the process of building a Devinci full suspension 29er.

Wow! Great photos and what a lot of cycling. It's great when there are two of you who are both crazy about the same thing!
I'm just a slow roadie. I ride for fun, short rides -- occasionally commute to work by bike. Sometimes, I leave the bike at work and ride with co-workers at lunch. That won't be happening until there is some warmer weather here. Most likely in April.

Since everyone likes bike porn... after seeing a huge Hawk take a run at my neighbors little chihuahua I grabbed my good camera to tried to get some pics of it. Since I got a chance to ride some dirt this morning before breakfast put me in a biking mood and I had my camera out so I grabbed my macro lens and took some detail pics on some of the parts pile waiting for the Devinci build.

Yeah it's fun that we do the hobbies together, mountain biking, skiing, triathlons, obstacle course racing (Tough Mudder and things like that).
I have a fun little place to ride during lunch.....

Here's some of the local rides.
Betasso Preserve. It's in a mountain lion habitat, they warn that by the time you've gotten 200 yards from the trailhead that you've already been spotted by one.
Heil Ranch
Flatirons Vista/Marshal Mesa, I trail run here after work a lot,
Buffalo Creek is insanely good, it's an IMBA Epic. The usual loop is about 25 miles with roughly 4000 feet of elevation gain.
Walker Ranch. Really technical riding and a monster set of "stairs" you get to hike a bike up if you want to ride it as a loop.

Lair 'O The Bear. Super fun flowy trail, mostly smooth and relatively high speed with a couple of rock gardens.

We were ridding along and a pack of horses came running through

Hitch mount is the way to go
Dbestgti, awesome trail pix! Do you happen to have a pix of your Gti with the hitchmount? I'm still open to this. Though the roof racks do the job, still a little annoying with all the wind noise. Another funny caveat to roof mounts is I always have one of those cycling buddies thinking it's ok for them to take initiative and load their own bikes on my car. I have a couple of roof dings on my past cars to prove that.
My fear is that I will back into something with it. I have backed into plenty of things before. Does this set up block the rear camera at all?

My GTI didn't have a rear view camera but my 4Runner does, it doesn't block it on the truck but it's mounted a little off center. Not sure how it would work on a MK7.
I put a Draw Tite Hidden Hitch on it. It's pretty low key and tucked up under there.
Then I added a Thule rack, it holds 2 bikes, the rack locks to the hitch, the hitch locks to the bike, and a cable pulls out of the rack to lock to the frames.
Then I added roof racks as well.
Because I needed a space bubble, with Colorado weather it varied every weekend if we were going to bike or ski. On more than 1 occasion we've skied in the morning and biked int he afternoon.
Then I finally gave up and bought a 4Runner since it's a much better fit for our lifestyle.
