"The checks phase out for incomes above $75,000 a year. That’s capped for individuals making above $99,000 a year. For married couples, income of $198,000 a year is the cap and, for people filing as the head of household, it’s $146,500 a year, according to the analysis from Grassley’s office."

Interesting. Not really sure how it works here TBH. I’m sure we don’t qualify though. No matter, my ex takes 40% of my net anyway, 10 years post divorce. Lol

I suspect that the trillions of dollars being pumped into the bond market and the inevitable bailout of the TBTF institutions will ensure that the high income households get their stimulus.

This. Over the next few years it'll end up being like 2008. 90% of the stimulus will go to the wealthy and corporations. There's already some juicy tax cuts for REAL high income people in the bill that was passed. When I move back to stocks, I'll be getting that good old socialism for the wealthy in amounts far more than $1200. I'd much rather the government do trickle up economics and focus on helping those in need first, but I also understand the need to keep businesses afloat. In reality, if you want to shorten the impacts as much as possible once this is over, you have to do both. We will not, we will focus on business and hope it trickles down, even though we have 50 years of economic data showing it just doesn't.

I ordered small things hoping that'll hold me over a bit until I want to order something bigger lol

Like I ordered the covercraft windshield sunscreen. I've never bothered with one before on any of my cars, but after owning 2 GTIs for 6 years each and both having too many interior issues I want to protect this one best I can.
Also noticed my windshield wipers are starting to fall apart so I ordered a full set of 3. Nothing exciting.

Now my bigger problem is this damn heat and feeling like I have heatsoak even on my first pull. I had no intentions of replacing the IC, but I'm kinda feeling like I should.

A couple days ago, before I was thinking about an IC, I was thinking of ordering a new monitor. I nearly did too, but it's about the same price as an IC. Even started looking at the 0% apr payment plans on amazon for the monitor just for the hell of it, but it sounds kinda dumb.

I want to save money but boredom's got me thinking of spending a shit ton. I need to just wait for sales, on both items.

Yeah, we’re definitely being diligent about cash flow. Normally I’d have gotten mulch by now and my neighbor is being bitchy about a tree hanging over into his yard, but I just don’t want the outflow of money.

My wife got the call this morning about layoffs and eliminated positions.

I got the call at 4 about the same for my 20 person software company. Fortunately we’re both ok, but both assuming a lot more responsibility. No complaints, but a bit of survivors guilt.

I understand the guilty feeling but guilt implies that you did something wrong or immoral and you didn't. I'm in the same boat about feeling guilty and have to keep reminding myself of that. I've increased my charitable contributions because it's the right thing to do and it helps with the wrong feeling of guilt. One of the donations I made was to the Navajo Relief fund because they have been hit hard with C19 and so many people on the reservation don't have electricity or running water and they were the first American citizens.

Wife is a federal health care worker, so she's good, but we just went through layoffs, again for the third time in 2 years, and those of us left feel lucky, but it's sad for people you worked with for years. I would have rather a year of reduced salary or get laid off myself than see people laid of, but not much I can do about it. Every hospital in my area did layoffs of those not working in clinical capacities and furloughs of a lot of clinical staff that are not being utilized pre peak with all the elective procedures being on hold.Fortunately, all those laid off in my department are nurses working on the AI and quality projects and will be able to go back to clinical work once this is over, or sooner if things get bad in Floriderp, so not as bad, but I hope things get back to normal soon and they rehire all these people. I just don't see this rebounding quickly, though. Too much damage and uncertainty about what normal will look like for the next 18 months. I truly hope I'm wrong.

Jim, that's a good suggestion for donation. We just donated to restaurant workers relief fund. We're been giving 50 - 100% tips for grocery delivery and take out to try to help those that are still working in low pay jobs through this, too.

I bet there's gonna be a big spike this weekend. People are getting antsy and don't want to sit inside anymore. Driving to work this morning there was so much traffic it was like 3-4 weeks ago before we had a stay at home order.

Rural areas that aren't taking proper precautions are the next big area to spike and they don't have the health care infrastructure. Ironically, they largely think this whole thing is overblown and a MSM political agenda. They're about to pay the price for listening to politicians instead of experts.
