(Pictured is 2022 Formula One World Champion Cunt, Max Verstappen in his cheaty, over budget Red Bull RB18.)

figured i'd start the 2023 season thread now that we're less than 100 days til FP1.

24 races. Qatar returns, Las Vegas is added, France is out(again), and China has been cancelled with the rumor being that Portimao(Portugal) will take it's place.

- Vettel retires with Fernando Alonso taking his place alongside perennial Little Billy Lance Stroll at Aston Martin.

- Peirre Gasly moves to Alpine alongside Esteban Ocon making the French team have two French drivers.

- Nyck de Vreis takes Gasly's spot at Toro Rosso thus giving the grid two full time Dutch drivers(ew), while Yuki Tsunoda is on year three with the team.

- Mick Schumacher is out at Haas, with Nico Hulkenberg to take his seat alongside Kevin Magnussen, who have a history together.

- Ricciardo is back to Red Bull as a third driver with a fellow Australian in Oscar Piastri taking his place at McLaren, who retains Lando Norris.

- Latifi retires as the GOAT at Williams and is replaced with American Logan Sargeant, the first full time American driver in F1 since Scott Speed way back in 2007(fun fact, Vettel ran his entire F1 career with out a full time American on the grid lol).

- Ferrari(LeClerc/Sainz), Alfa Romeo(Bottas/Guanyu), Mercedes(Hamilton/Russell), and Red Bull(Verstappen/Perez) keep their lineups unchanged.

Team - Driver(no.)
Red Bull - Verstappen(1)/Perez(11)
Ferrari - LeClerc(16)/Sainz(55)
Mercedes - Hamilton(44)/Russell(63)
Alpine - Ocon(31)/Gasly(10)
McLaren - Norris(4)/Piastri(81)
Alfa Romeo - Bottas(77)/Guanyu(24)
Aston Martin - Alonso(14)/Stroll(18)
Haas - Magnussen(20)/Hulkenberg(27)
Alpha Tauri - Tsunoda(22)/de Vries(21)
Williams - Albon(23)/Sargeant(2)

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand go

Really bummed to see mick out. I had really high hopes for him, but it didn’t pan out. But he was also at haas…. So maybe we didn’t really get to see what he could do. Doubtful, but Maybe we could see him return in a better car.

F1’s plan for lighter and shorter cars in 2026

Agreed, looking back, it's a bit of a shame that he ended up in the Haas. Having a team that is remotely competitive and can manage a younger driver would have been hugely beneficial for him. Who knows, Merc needs a reserve driver and Merc likes the Schumacher name. Plus their last reserve driver landed himself a full time seat for next year, after just one race.

they could easily make the cars shorter by specifying a maximum gearbox and case length. all of the extra length in the cars come from that section and it's absurd. take those extra 50cm out and they'd look a ton better.

they're 100% going back to the 1800mm width tho lol

Honestly relieved for the teams. 24 races was gonna be a lot. Extra week of break now.

Hard agree. I wonder how the work/life balance is for the people on the lower rungs of a team -- pit crew, mechanics, assistants, etc. It's gotta be pretty shit.

Dang, the off season is busy....

Binotto out of Ferrari, Vasseur is in

Seidl leaves Mclaren to be Sauber CEO, needs to find a Team Principal for Sauber now

Andrea Stella to be Mclaren TP

Both Jost Capito (TP) and FX Demaison (TD) are leaving Williams

Not surprised to see Merc scoop up Mick as the reserve driver. Good for him.

that's your long term HAM replacement right there.
Idk about that, the surname brings money and attention to/from sponsors; but he better show something extra special that he couldn't at Haas if he plans on getting a full time seat again. Same with Danny Ric.
