What BMW M3 is this?

That's supposed to be a MY2001 or MY2002 E46 M3 in Phoenix Yellow but the separate shift knob from the boot tells me that it is an E46 with Photoshop instument panel, color and steering wheel.

This is not unusual: that photo is an official one from BMWAG and they do this kind of Photoshops a lot for all their Series photos.

the shift knob is supposed to be separated from the boot...what are you talking about? It's a 2001 M3...that's why it has the old school cassette radio

All E46 M3 from beginning of USA production (01/00) have a one piece, illuminated, leather shifter.

I have an M3, I do know what I'm talking about. :biggrin:

MY2003 have a 16:9 full screen, that one in the photo is a 4:3.

Yes... the leather goes from the plastic shift pattern insert all the way to the bottom of the mounting ring in the console. That insert is also illuminated... :thumbsup:

I knew the shift pattern was illuminated, but now that I look at it, the shift knob in the pic kind of looks like the one from the E39 M5
