I'm guessing that one is the cheapest/easiest to install. Same reason you see so many Civics with hot air intakes positioned right next to the engine.

I attached my intake tube to my tailpipes with some dryer duct and a tee connector. Forced induction ftw, its basically like I installed a supercharger. I think theres too much power for it though, it wont stay running

Yeah, that's a fail-safe, so you don't blow the welds on your intake and then have to stay up all night with the mad scientist, replacing the piston rings you fried.
