Does it really offer any real advantage over other choices or is it a gimmick/bling....?

It is all for bling. That is way to thin of a sidewall.

Do you ever see racecars running 22's?

Those were my thoughts exactly, just figured I would throw out the question for the heck of it.....

Yay lets ruin ride quality and handling whilst increasing the chance of damage to our wheel!
Love to see a car with those tyres go over a pothole...

i think the tire is wide enough that it won't ever let the wheel sink into a pothole

There is a performance advantage to low profile tires. The smaller the sidewall, the less it deflects during cornering, so turn-in and steering response are much sharper. These are being offered for Ferraris, Vettes, and Vipers, so it looks like Kumho is aiming them towards performance and not so much looks. They will probably be offered in 19" wheels sizes or bigger (possible as low as 18").
